Mandarin DuckMandarin Duck, common name for a perching duck closely allied to the wood duck. The mandarin duck is found in temperate regions of eastern Asia. Like the wood duck, the male is intricately patterned, but in the mandarin duck, the vanes of certain feathers are enormously expanded and upright. The females of the two species look much alike. Scientific classification: The mandarin duck and wood duck are members family Anatidae, in the order Anseriformes.
